Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) has teamed up with URS Corporation (URS) and InDyne to pursue the Launch & Test Range System Integrated Support Contract (LISC), which the U.S. Air Force expects to award in 2012.
This team of three experienced contractors in the field of range management services is formed with a common goal of providing efficient range management services. The group will be known as CoRE, or Consolidated Range Enterprise.
The U.S. Air Force is working relentlessly to improve and modernize its existing operations. LISC will provide the Air Force a single prime contractor who will be responsible and accountable for various range operations.
As a single unified contractor, the CoRE, if awarded the contract, will take care of Launch & Test Range System operations, organizational and depot level maintenances, logistics management, sustaining engineering, modifications, integration management and test, downrange Base Operating Support, and also provide mission support communications services at both eastern and western ranges.
It is in the nature of these contracts that varied players come together, with their own exclusive and proven skills, to cater to the highly technical demands of their customers. Recently, Lockheed joined forces with Atmos Sistemas Ltda. to pursue the Brazilian Air Force’s future Three-Dimensional (3-D) Long-Range Radar procurement program.
One of the partners of the CoRE team, URS Corporation is based in San Francisco and is a leading provider of engineering, construction and technical services for its worldwide customers. Reston, Virginia-based InDyne, the other ally, is a high-technology firm specializing in end-to-end solutions across the life cycle of large, complex government contracts.
Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Lockheed Martin operates globally in the fields of research, design, development, manufacture, integration, operation, and sustainment of advanced technology systems and products.
Lockheed Martin currently retains a Zacks #2 Rank (short-term Buy rating). The company mainly competes with Northrop Grumman Corporation (NOC) and The Boeing Company (BA).
