Initial Claims decreased by 14,000 for the week ending 03/20 to 442,000, more than the expected decrease to 450,000, from the previous week’s revised level of 456,000. The 4-week moving average fell to 453,750, the lowest level since September 2008, from the previous week’s revised average of 464,750. Seasonally adjusted insured unemployment from the prior week, ending on 03/13, was 4,648,000, a decrease of 54,000 from the preceding week’s revised level of 4,702,000. Seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate from the week ending on 03/13, was 3.6%, unchanged from the previous week’s revised figure of 3.6%.
