Crude inventories increased by 2.8 million barrels, for the week ending April 30, from the previous week to 360.6 million barrels and were above the upper limit of the average range for that time of year. U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.1 million barrels per day during this period, 190 thousand barrels per day above the previous week’s average. U.S. crude oil imports were averaging 10.0 million barrels per day, up 270 thousand barrels per day from the previous week.
The ISM Services Index remained unchanged at 55.4% in April, lower than the expected level of 56.3, after rising to 55.4 in March, following an increase to 53 in February. The index’s complement, the ISM Manufacturing Index increased to 60.4 on Monday’s release after increasing to 59.6 in March.
