It is Monday, and Monday is, well, the first day of the workweek for much of the industrialized world. That sentence reminds me of a television commercial I saw this past weekend. In that commercial, a woman is in an office setting drinking a cup of coffee. She looks a bit off, not so happy, like she would rather be anywhere else. The camera then focuses on her coffee cup, which reads, “It’s Monday.” Cut away from that to a shot of the inside of the cup as it goes down to the table. As the cup angles on the way to the table, the remaining coffee flows to one side exposing the words, “Only four days until Friday.”
Now my life is not geared to the reality of going into an office for work, but Mondays are still a day of transition for me. Mondays for me mean I have to shift gears from physical work and heavy relaxation back to mental work and less relaxation. Now that I think about, I guess Mondays for me are just like Mondays for everyone else – only four more days until Friday.
How should one boost confidence and energy after a bad trading day?
Actually, the above question inspired my thinking about Mondays. When I read it, I thought, “I feel a bit low and lethargic this morning.” So, I put on some coffee, poured myself a cup, sat down to do what I do, which is write this, and that commercial I mentioned popped into my head. Like that, my thinking ran to how folks can be low and lacking energy on Mondays.
So, my answer to your question is another question – how does one boost confidence and energy after any bad day at work? Trading is just another business, another way to make money. Some days are good and some days are bad. Why fret about the bad days (assuming you have not wiped out your whole trading stash)? So what if now and then you have a bad day at the “office.” Everybody does. Trading is no different, other than there are direct financial consequences for your bad day, but, hey, losing is part of the game, just as Mondays are part of the game. Get used it, get over it, and just think to yourself, “There are only four more days until Friday.”
Trade in the day; invest in your life …
