Natural gas prices rose on Tuesday amid colder-than-average weather forecasts in eastern of the United States, which led to speculations that demand for natural gas will increase to meet rising demand for heating fuel, pushing natural gas higher as a result, as the Commodity Weather Group LLC expects this winter season to be the coldest in 10 years.
Natural gas prices could still rise over the coming days, as weather forecasts suggest that temperatures will be below their average for this time of the year in central and southern of the United States, which could boost demand for natural gas as a heating fuel, and that should push natural gas prices higher. Nonetheless, expectations that supply of natural gas is approaching a record could still put negative pressure on natural gas prices.
