Salesforce.com (CRM) has entered into a strategic business deal with Adobe Systems Incorporated (ADBE), whereby the entities will combine the cloud computing power of the Force.com with the Adobe Flash Platform in order to offer the customer a high quality Internet experience in the cloud. The combined service is presented as Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com, which will improve the end consumer Internet experience, as well as improve the productivity of web developers.
This is another example of Salesforce.com’s diversification of its service offerings, utilizing the cloud computing platform. This time it is targeted at web developers, a rapidly growing market the world over. Adobe Flash Builder for Force.com is a powerful tool, which helps to produce cloud-based rich Internet applications (RIA), which can be easily used by the end users through the Adobe Flash Player and browser or can be directly accessed on the desktop through Adobe AIR. This helps the client in managing data and synchronizing between the cloud and end users, on the Force.com platform.
So it is clear that this is a strategic move to enhance the reach and usability of the Force.com platform in a new way.
This is an intelligent business decision by the company, which indicates that the company is in the process of expanding its cloud computing business and offering service to clients based in different countries. This process effectively expands the customer base, at the same time helping it to deal with competition from big players such as International Business Machines (IBM), Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) and Google Inc. (GOOG).
The company also recently announced the Force.com value-added reseller (VAR) program to generate additional business. As per this new program, the value-added resellers of Force.com will help their clients develop and run applications on Force.com. Force.com basically enables companies to develop and run applications for public and private use, with the help of Salesforce.com’s cloud computing platform.
VARs are reputed software consultants who will act as channel partners and resell the application developed on Force.com to other companies. The technical knowledge and customer winning ability of the VARs will add value and generate additional business for Salesforce.com.
