The NASDAQ clearly broke down on its chart yesterday. The tech heavy index fell below its 50-day moving average and a lower support trend-line. Apple Inc. (AAPL) has a chance to right the ship when they report earnings after the close.
Wall Street expects the tech titan to earn $10 for its first quarter; however, Top Equity News believes AAPL will show a profit of more than $11 after the closing bell. It will be management’s all-important forward guidance that determines the street’s reaction to the announcement.
While we expect Apple to blow the doors off of analysts’ consensus earnings numbers, it may not be enough to stem the tide of selling for a day or two. Lately, there has been a run of disappointing economic news at home and abroad.
China and Germany, the world’s 2nd and 4th largest economies, have seen their manufacturing contract. Spain and Italy are struggling with rising interest rates, which is ominous foreshadowing of last year’s Greek she loves me, she loves me not, bad debt affair. Only, Spain and Italy are too big to bail.
