Okay, now I am upset. I have had it with the arrogance of those in Washington who think what they believe is more important than the economic security of the country. I have nothing more sensible to say about that, and even less about how one looks at this from a market perspective.
It is sheer lunacy.
All one can hope for is that those who think holding us all hostage will come to their senses before this stage of the US political debacle rolls over into the debt ceiling debate and what is now a fire turns into a conflagration.
- Italian center-right leader Silvio Berlusconi promised to support Prime Minister Enrico Letta in a confidence vote on Wednesday, staging a U-turn only days after he provoked a crisis by pulling his ministers out of the government. Berlusconi abruptly changed course as dozens of rebels in his center-right People of Freedom party prepared to vote for Letta.
Remember, even if this is stupid, crazy, and it generates fear that runs the market down, hang in there. This too shall pass.
