Sierra Monitor Corporation (SRMC) designs and develops hazardous gas monitoring devices for the protection of personnel and facilities in industrial work places. Through its subsidiary FieldServer Technologies the firm has branched into protocol translation technology, which enables machine to machine (M2M) communication in energy and building automation applications. This high growth business should complement the gas detection business, while not sacrificing market or margins. FieldServer should see a tailwind as a result of the push toward zero net energy building designs.

On December 13, 2010, Sierra Monitor Corporation entered into a stock purchase agreement pursuant to which the Company purchased all 1,549,134 shares of Company common stock held by a single shareholder for an aggregate purchase price of $1,000,000. The Shares will be retired which will boost the firm’s bottom line numbers.

On December 16, 2010 SRMC announced that its wholly-owned division, FieldServer Technologies, has received Certification from the industry supported BACnet Test Lab for its ProtoNode gateway. BACnet is the premier communication protocol used to enable energy efficiency, facility safety and security, and occupant comfort in large buildings ranging from shopping malls to high rise offices, hotels and campuses.

The BACnet Test Lab is chartered to award worldwide BTL Listings to qualified BACnet devices. ProtoNode is a gateway device that allows communications interface between field devices and central building management systems.
