Analysis and Recommendations:

Silver followed gold and traded down at 28.70. On Wednesday, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta President Dennis Lockhart said that “further monetary actions to support the recovery will certainly need to be considered” if modest domestic growth is no longer realistic. Silver for July delivery gained 3.8 per cent to settle at $US29.488 a troy ounce, the highest settlement since May 7. Today Fed Chairman testified that the Fed was ready to assist if necessary, but offered no additional monetary solutions at this time.

Silver tends to move in tandem with gold, since investors buy both precious metals as safe-haven investments. But, unlike gold, silver has a wide variety of industrial applications, making prices sensitive to changes in the economic growth outlook.
