Senator Christopher Dodd outlined a plan to overhaul banking rules. The new legislation includes a version of the Volcker Rule to require regulators to ban proprietary trading, investment in and sponsorship of hedge funds and private equity funds, and to limit relationships with the funds. The plan will also empower the Federal Reserve to break up large firms that pose a “grave threat” to the U.S economic stability.

According to a survey conducted by the People’s Bank of China, around 51% of Chinese consumers were dissatisfied with the current inflation rate. That was the highest proportion since the survey began in 1999. Annual inflation in China had increased to 2.7% in February from January’s 1.5%.
