Singapore Market opened higher this morning after gains on Wall Street overnight. STI rose 16.3 points to open at 2905.48. Other Asian share markets were mostly higher, with banks and materials stocks supporting the Australian market.

  • Singapore’s CPI in February was 1.0% higher year-on-year, reflecting mainly higher costs of transport, food and education and stationery. 
  • Wee Hur wins $103.6 million Jurong entertainment centre deal.

  1. The Malaysia should see increased foreign direct investment this year after the government implements administrative reforms, the country’s Prime Minister Najib Razak said.

China Telecom, the country’s largest fixed-line operator by subscribers, rose 6.5% after reporting a huge jump in fiscal year net profit to CNY14.42 billion (US$2.11 billion), from CNY884 million a year earlier, when the company booked a CNY24.17 billion impairment loss on property, plants and equipment mainly associated with the handyphone business.
  7. Bank of China’s H-shares in Hong Kong were up 2.5% as investors awaited the release of its 2009 full year results due later in the day.

Despite market broke 2900 after 15:00, index quickly recovered back above 2900. DBS is so far the strongest bank stock for the moment, do lookout for breakout at 14.68.
