What is 13-D, 13-F and 13-G?

A) Apartment addresses
B) Bingo card numbers
C) The key to unlocking stock market profits

Congrats to all those who picked C. And indeed, these government-ordered trading disclosures of the largest smart money investors contains valuable clues about stocks set to soar.

Here is the problem. These deep pocketed investors don’t want you to know their trade secrets. They go to great lengths to hide their true intention with tricks that include: Issuing duplicative paperwork…making a series of small little trades over a long period of time…and yes, sometimes even selling a stock they want to buy to throw you off the trail.

When you consider all the institutions involved. And all the trades. And all the deception. You begin to realize why many have tried to scale this mountain of data…yet failed.

Not so for Zacks Investment Research. We have marshaled our vast resources on this singular task. And I am glad to report that we have absolutely cracked their code. Read on for the 3 keys to profitably trading upon this information.

1) Know the Players of the Game

In every industry there are leaders and followers. The investment field is no exception. And we have a large media industry that is constantly in pursuit of finding and sharing insights from these leaders.

Warren Buffett is a prime example. Every move he makes is widely reported, leading to a massive bandwagon effect as others ride on his coat tails. As you can imagine, he has teams of people coming up with ways to delay or confuse would be followers.

Knowing who the leaders are allows you to concentrate on them so you can ignore the others. This is the first step to trim that mountain of trading data down to a more manageable foothill. The next step is to…

2) Know Where the Clues are Hidden

The alphabet soup I shared with you before (13-D, 13-F and 13-G) are the names of the three main filings that top institutions have to issue about their trading activity. The most well-known of these are the 13-F filings, which have been around since 1975.

The 13-F requires every investment firm managing over $100 million to disclose all their holdings within 45 days after the quarters end. This sounds like an enticing place to look because it shows every holding. The downside is that the information may be over 4 months old by which time the firm is already selling the shares.

The 13-D and 13-G filings are a bit more promising. These need to be issued within 10 days of a trade for the large movers in the field who have a greater than 5% stake in a company. This is definitely the place to focus your energies. The problem being that these firms go to great lengths to cover up their trail of breadcrumbs.

We have a solution for that as well. More about that in a moment. For now let’s discuss why…

3) Time is of the Essence

To think that one could be a casual observer of this information is laughable. The key is focus and lots of manpower to act upon this information in a timely manner to maximize profits.

That’s because the information in these filings is a perishable item. The longer it takes to decipher their trading activity, the more spoiled the returns.

Fortunately, we have marshaled our resources in capturing, sorting and analyzing this information, by leveraging our 30 years of experience in data handling. Then we go a step further by narrowing down to just the best trades with clear buy and sell signals.

Not surprisingly the first 3 of the trades from this new system are already in positive territory…even during these hectic times.

But you better act now. This portfolio is closing to the public on Sunday, May 27th. There will be no extensions.

Wishing you great financial success,

Steve
