The weather seems to have cleared a bit, and I am taking advantage of some warmth and sunshine. Once again, I am sitting outside in my anti-gravity chair, pulling in the energy from the surrounding ecosystem that is vibrant and rich. I need it, as these wintry days tend to drag me down. Looking around, it occurs to me that the lively energy derives from the input of all the participants, including my perception of it. Not one but many things make this environment what it is. Robert Frost wrote “… way leads to way …” in the “Road Not Taken,” and at this moment, my understanding of the words is that one thought leads to another, which is exactly what just happened …
The question below relates to the above in this way – the trading tools available to all us have value, but that value is dependent on the contribution each makes to one’s trading approach. As in any ecosystem, the health is the sum of relatively equal parts contributing to the whole.
Thanks for replying to my last question. I would like to ask you another, perhaps more pertinent trading question. Which, if any, indicator do you think is the best to use?
First off, you are welcome. Now, as to your question …
What I think here is not as important as what you need for your trading approach. So, what do you need for your trading approach? Which indicators will help you find what you need to know? To answer this question, analyze your trading approach. Are you an intra-day trader, a swing trader, guerilla trader, or long-term trader? Do you trade short, long, or both? Do you trade commodities, futures, options, forex, or equities?
You see, I don’t know the answers to these questions, but you do. Thus, take responsibility for your trading approach. This means you should turn inward, begin looking for your own answers to these basic questions. The indicators you choose to use will reflect how you trade, and this is as personal as how you might choose to achieve success in a relationship, or how you might approach a game of chess, for that matter. So think about your question in these terms. If you do, the reward will be far greater than any reward you might receive using my particular viewpoint on the importance, or lack of importance, of any particular indicator.
The singular sound of the birds communicating with each other is soothing. The blend of voices speaks to a unified sensibility, but, every now and then, the high-pitched scream of a hawk interrupts the gentle, rhythmic flow. It does not matter, as the scream of the hawk is a part of the overall current of sound. Even though the hawk is the most fascinating bird in my little world, the others, the sparrows, wrens, finches, and jays all play their part. Without them, the hawk screaming would be just intermittent noise in an otherwise silent world.
Trade in the day; invest in your life …
