Forexpros – U.S. stocks were up after the closing bell on Thursday.
At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.86%, the S&P 500 index gained 3.43%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 2.79%.
Earlier in the day, preliminary official data showed that Gross domestic product in the U.S. rose more-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 2.5% in the last quarter from 1.3% in the preceding quarter.
Analysts had expected U.S. gross domestic product to rise 2.4% in the last quarter.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed higher. France’s CAC 40 was up 6.28%; Germany’s DAX gained 5.35%; Britain’s FTSE 100 climbed 2.89%; and the EURO STOXX 50 rose 6.08%.
