Forexpros – U.S. stocks were down after the closing bell on Wednesday.

At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.63%, the S&P 500 index shed 1.26%, while the Nasdaq 100 index declined 2.03%.

Earlier in the day, official data showed that core consumer price inflation in the U.S. rose less-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted 0.1% last month from 0.2% in the preceding month.

Analysts had expected U.S. core CPI to rise 0.2% last month.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed higher. France’s CAC 40 was up 0.52%; Germany’s DAX gained 0.60%; Britain’s FTSE 100 climbed 0.74%; and the EURO STOXX 50 rose 1.01%.
