Forex Pros – U.S. stocks were down after the closing bell on Friday.

At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.79%, the S&P 500 index shed 0.81%, while the Nasdaq 100 index declined 1.19%.

Earlier in the day, preliminary data showed that U.S. UoM consumer sentiment rose more-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted 72.4 last month from 69.8 in the preceding month.

Analysts had expected UoM consumer sentiment to rise to 70.0 last month.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed lower. France’s CAC 40 was down 0.11%; Germany’s DAX shed 0.55%; Britain’s FTSE 100 declined 0.32%; and the EURO STOXX 50 fell 0.77%.
