Forexpros – U.S. stocks were down after the closing bell on Tuesday.
At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2.48%, the S&P 500 index shed 2.79%, while the Nasdaq 100 index declined 2.61%.
Earlier in the day, industry data showed that The U.S. ISM manufacturing PMI fell unexpectedly to 50.8 last month from 51.6 in the preceding month.
Analysts had expected the ISM manufacturing PMI to rise to 52.1 last month.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed lower. France’s CAC 40 was down 5.38%; Germany’s DAX shed 5.00%; Britain’s FTSE 100 declined 2.21%; and the EURO STOXX 50 fell 5.26%.
