Apollo Global Management (APO)
the private-equity firm headed by Leon Black, has bounced back so well from some embarrassing leveraged buyouts that it now plans to go public, like its rivals Blackstone Group and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.
The initial public offering is expected Wednesday. Apollo (which will trade under the ticker symbol APO) plans to sell 18 million partnership shares, while a group of shareholders who bought stock in 2007 private placements at an average price of $21 may sell another 8 million. The anticipated pricing range is $17 to $19 a share.
