In these days of uncertainty, the polarization of opinion on the economy and the market can be disconcerting. Waiting for the Greek Parliament to vote on the austerity package that will either pave the way for a long-term economic bailout or dig a hole for a near-term economic default can make one anxious. Thinking about the possibility of the U.S. not raising its debt ceiling is distressing. Trying to figure out if the recent quarter in the global economy is a one-off or if it is a sign of more weakening to come is tiring. So, when a reader writes in and tells me something good, I lap it up like a kitten over a bowl of fresh milk. Me likey, and I am appreciative.
Not a question, just to say you help me through your writing and I always find you entertaining. The time and effort you put into all this is truly admirable.
Yes, I do this because I hope to assist others in the process of learning how to make one’s money work. I do what I do here because this site and the good folks behind it are dedicated to educating about trading and investing in the market, which is one key way to make your money work. This leads me right to my second question today …

This site provides myriad opportunities for beginners to learn about trading markets, and it is free. I suggest you come in and start moving around. Much of what you come across may seem foreign to you, but so what. You are entering a zone that you know little or nothing about. Take advantage of the wide array of talent, knowledge, and experience that flows throughout this site on a daily basis. Yes, I said it is free …
Personally, when I decided to learn about trading and investing in the market, I had little understanding of the reality, the process, the context, or the work necessary to get it right. So, I jumped into the shallow end of the pool and began splashing around. Every day, I read this or looked at that, or talked to this person, or watched that. I just began learning. After a while, like working a jigsaw puzzle, the pieces began to fit together and a picture began to form. And like the jigsaw puzzle, the more the picture forms, the easier it becomes to figure out where the remaining pieces belong.
Eventually, the puzzle comes together and you are left with an image, a sense of accomplishment, and, most importantly, the ability to figure out how to analyze the disparate pieces on your way to putting it all together. Mind you, just because you finish the puzzle, though, it does not mean you are “there.” Although incredibly important, the first puzzle only teaches you how to do the rest of the puzzles coming your way. You see, every day, the market is a puzzle with the pieces scattered about the table, upside down, sideways, and without order. The only way to a coherent image is to know how to fit the disjointed pieces together. So, get to it; your puzzle awaits …
