As if celebrities don’t make enough money, they have started rolling out prepaid debit cards. The target market for these products are teenagers with spending money and young adults that do not qualify for traditional banking services. The latest celebrities to prey upon the average person are the Kardashians. They have come out with the Kardashian Kard for their adoring fans. Cards like this may be popular with fans of these celebrities but these cards do way more harm than good.
Kardashian Debit Kard
It’s expensive to try and keep up with the Kardasians. The Kardashian debit card may look nice on the outside but the fees charged on this card are downright predatory.
The card offer 2 options. There is a $59.95 fee if you choose the 6 month option. The 12 month option will cost you $99.95. It will cost you an additional $10 just to get a picture of the 3 Kardashians on your debit card. Once the initial term expires, there’s the $7.95 a month fee for the “privilege” of using the card. There is also the $2 fee for each item when you pay your bill. This does not even include reload fees, customer service call center fees, and ATM withdrawal fees.
If you want to cancel the card and get your money back, there is a $6 fee for that. If the card gets declined, not only will you be embarrassed but you will be charged a $1 fee as well.
If you sign up to get this card, you will be the one financing the next Kardashian trip to Rodeo Drive.
