PPET-logo.jpgDid it work for Passionate Pet Inc. (OTC:PPET)? Not really, given the trading volume and the change in the share price. It is a rather expensive marketing effort when the interest at hand amounts to just over 3k shares exchanging hands for the day. What is more interesting – the session before had 8 times higher trading activity. PPET-04.10.11.png

So, what we have at hand is $0.75 per share at the end of the Monday session, and 3,050 shares exchanging hands. What we also have is $50k paid for the promotion that came out on Monday just before the start of the trading day. So far, not exactly inspirational. But, neither is the balance sheet of the company for that matter. For example, the 10-Q for the second quarter of 2011 includes the following:

  • $77k in cash;
  • $1.2 million in total assets;
  • $2.4 million in total liabilities;
  • $2 million in accumulated deficit;
  • $362k in revenue;
  • $373k in net loss;

Not the best figures, not the worst, either. Maybe they would be different in the next quarterly statement to come. In the meantime, it is not like there are no reasons for hope and optimism. Today, another press release came out, focusing on the newly established partnership between Passionate Pet and Cesar Milan – a self-taught professional dog trainer widely known for his television series The Dog Whisperer and author of several books on dog care and training. This means additional products for sale in the store, and the possibility for additional revenues. [BANNER]

In fact, PPET has just started trading this year, which means it is yet to see what the real potential of the stock is. So far, the stock performance is not inspiring as the share price has dropped from $1.2 to its current levels of $0.75 per share. Whether a run back to 1 dollar is possible is yet to be seen, but one thing is certain – it is not likely for this to be achieved through expensive promotions.
