Eurocontrol, the European organization monitoring the safety aspects of airborne navigation, has executed a contract for outsourcing its IT resources and activities with a consortium led by Siemens (SI) IT Solutions and Services.

The contract encompasses IT activities of Eurocontrol business divisions’ Management Information Systems and central Flow Management Unit based in Brussels. It also covers the Experimental Center Research based in Paris. The main focus would be on identifying synergies between the different centers and reducing IT service costs.

The project encompasses the integration of 2,800 computers, 500 servers and around 80 applications. The total value of the seven-year contract is around €100 million ($140 million).

The consortium is co-partnered by Getronics and BT Global Services and will be responsible for IT consulting services, infrastructure management as well as that of networks, servers, applications and memory storage systems. Support and application maintenance will be executed by Cronos International.

Siemens IT Solutions and Services is an international provider of IT solutions catering to the entire IT service value chain from Consulting to System Integration, including management of IT infrastructure.
