Singapore market reacted positively to overnight Wall Street gains, with STI up 6.31 points at 2974.69. 

U.S. major averages all closed in positive territory, at their best closing levels in well over a year, but on light volume, after releasing the strongest jobs report in three years along and better than expected news from the housing and service sectors.

  1. Singapore Exchange reported strong trading growth in its securities and commodities markets in March 2010. Total securities trading value was up 48% year-on-year (yoy) to $30.4 billion. Overall volume dipped 2% due to muted volatility in the derivatives and commodities market but trading of equity index options more than doubled to 28,699 contracts yoy
