STI opened positively at 2806.27 lifted by gains in the bank shares. Sentiment was buoyed by Wall Street’s overnight strength, after the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.8% for its biggest gain since 1st December this month.

Noble Group has requested for a trading halt this morning.

Straits Asia Resources entered into a five year club financing facility for US$380m. The facility will be used to refinance an existing US$255m facility, provide additional working capital and funds for Straits Asia’s planned expansion of its coal production.
