Apple plans to release the newest member of its iPhone family, the iPhone 5S, on September 10. In the meantime rumors are flying wild about the possibility of a lower-cost iPhone 5C which could be announced at the same conference.
Analysts suspect the “C” refers to the variety of colors in which Apple will offer this smart phone. The iPhone 5C is meant to target emerging markets and has many similarities with the iPhone 5 in terms of general functionality, shape, and networking.
However, it deviates from its predecessor both in physical appearance and technological abilities. In addition to new exotic shell covers like lime green and gold, other leaked pictures of the 5C support rumors of rounded edges with a polycarbonate outer covering.
Also, the 5C will feature new fingerprint sensing technology using a convexly-shaped sapphire home button which could be used for more secure online transactions along with an advanced 12-megapixel camera which will sport two separate LED flash components for better picture-taking.
Some have said the video-recording capabilities have been upgraded to the point where the mobile device will be able to record 120 frames per second, giving the user the ability to playback the film in slow motion. The new phone may also be supported by the Apple A7 (iOS 7) processor, though all these rumors are to be confirmed next month. Meanwhile, Apple junkies will wait restlessly.
THE TRADE
As always, I expect AAPL to run up into the event, but then as history has shown us, sell off when they disappoint once again
